Intro

Disclaimer: The TinHiFi T6 was provided to us at no charge courtesy of TinHiFi. However, this was done with the understanding that I would provide my honest thoughts and opinions on the T6. The T6 is available for purchase here, should you find yourself interested in a pair, or feel free to use your links.

TinHifi have been building up their T series, and the T6 sits in a comfortable price point and features an interesting dual dynamic-planar driver combination. At $119, the T6 would be an appealing product to people who want a daily driver wired IEM and want some clear sonic improvements from their wireless earbuds without investing too much into this hobby.

Accessories

Once again, TinHiFi does not disappoint in terms of accessories. Although the T6 falls in a relatively budget price category, they certainly did not skimp on the accessories that matter. It comes with a suede hard case with a magnetic clasp, something that I honestly, I have not seen with IEMs in this price point.

Build Quality and Fit

Build quality is once again stellar from TinHifi. It has an all-aluminium shell and a very well-made cable. The cherry on the cake would be the resin-coated natural wood grain faceplate. Nothing about this IEM looks like its price point. On the contrary, I struggled with the fit. The interchangeable nozzles combined with the shape of the shells didn’t give a snug fit with a number of the tips I used regularly. I had to do a substantial amount of tip-rolling before I found something. Though once I got a good seal, the IEMs were as comfortable as could be, and the seal makes all the difference in the sonic performance.

Bass

The bass has got to be the standout point of the T6 for me. It is not overdone, and while there is a slight emphasis in the lower end, it is not disproportionate and overall, very tasteful. What blew me away was the clarity, texture and timber of the bass. On EDM tracks, the crispness and the depth of the bass really tickle the brain, and the technical ability of the bass blows my mind. Do note that my testing is with decently powerful sources, so you might need some added power to draw out the full capability of the T6. This was also what was communicated by TinHifi.

Mids

Although I spent most of my time on the Green “Harman” filter, the vocals or the overall tuning did not strike me as very Harman-y but instead more U or L-shaped if anything. There was quite an expansive midrange with a wide sounding soundstage that made for very enjoyable and easy listening. The tonality was natural and enjoyable, and combined with the punchy, deep bass, it’s a very versatile tuning that works. It’s definitely something that I usually reach for, as I am more of a vocals and mids guy. But the T6 definitely punches above its weight with how cohesive the sound is.

Highs

The highs are not fatiguing in any way and are overall quite laid back. There is not a lot of emphasis in the highs, but it does blend in well to provide a natural tonality to the overall sound. There is an okay extension in the higher frequencies to give instruments their natural timbre. That said, this pair of IEMs does reveal some of its weaknesses in this region in terms of microdetails and also separation in the upper mids to treble. That said, understandably so, given the price point of this IEM and what it has managed to produce thus far. I would loveit if there were more airiness and sparkle in the highs to take the sound up a notch.

Overall

It was an absolute joy listening to EDM on this pair. The imaging and soundstage, combined with the punchiness and cleanliness of the bass, just hit so well. What I find could be improved would definitely be the overall detail retrieval which caps the performance of the IEM and definitely I will not be drawing any comparisons to IEMs 3 times its price in this review but definitely there are limitations to what you can achieve with the price paid for the T6, and it left me craving for that extra bit certain times, especially in the upper mids and treble.

Conclusion

I love how TinHifi has stuck to their philosophy, belief, and speciality – Dynamic drivers. The experimentation by blending the planar driver with the traditional dynamic driver worked so well this time, and all was done within a palatable price point that makes the T6 accessible to many. Give the T6 a shot; it definitely surprised me pleasantly, and I would definitely be recommending this pair to friends who want a do-it-all pair without breaking the bank. My only initial gripe with the T6 was the fit, which I struggled with initially. I went through a few different pairs of tips before I found one that hit the sweet spot and never had fit issues anymore, so it is definitely a me problem in that aspect. It is also a huge bonus considering the generous accessories that come bundled with the IEM and the quality of the cable.

I would say TinHifi’s hard work and research have definitely paid off, and I truly respect them for persevering with their in-house R&D and this product clearly shows they are doing it for the love of the game, and hey, it’s a win for them and a win for the consumer. I have not given an S rating in a while, but considering the overwhelming value of this product and how it presents amazing potential to the average consumer, I think the T6 is an amazing product.
